| Belgium based TAL wins Red Dot Award with its Santiago fixture |

 For the second time in succession TAL’s Santiago fixture gains recognition : after being awarded the iF Product Design Award, Santiago has been pronounced the winner of a Red Dot Award, one of the most prestigious accolades for product design. Santiago is part of the Kinetura Lighting collection, a revolutionary series of shape-shifting light fixtures which can establish a complete change in atmosphere and light perception.
TAL’s Kinetura Lighting collection was designed by architects Xaveer Claerhout and Barbara Van Biervliet. It is made up of a series of smart design fixtures combining composite materials and drive mechanisms thus allowing for complete metamorphosis. Light modulation and transformation of the fixture go hand in hand, making adjustable light a natural phenomenon. TAL and Kinetura are very proud of the fact that Santiago, the very first fixture from the Kinetura Lighting collection, has been so well received by international design juries. This recessed fixture is seamlessly integrated into a wall or ceiling. When switched on only a minimal light strip is present serving as indication lighting. But whenever required, the fixture gradually transforms to a state of fully functional lighting. Inconspicuously, the fixture bends inwards allowing light to caress the architecture. To avoid confusion in the market, and to make a distinction between the Kinetura principle and the lighting applications, the Kinetura Lighting Collection will soon become totally immersed in the new collection of TAL GLOW MOTION Awarded for the second time
Santiago has already won an iF Product Design Award for 2011. It has now been selected as one of the winners of the Red Dot Awards among the 4433 applicants for product design. Technological trendsetter
Together with earlier recognitions such as the Henry Van De Velde prize and the Good Design Award, this latest assent emphasizes TAL’s successful dedication to innovative light concepts. For more than 18 years, TAL has built a solid reputation with architects and lighting designers as a technological trendsetter in the field of high quality lighting. The winning products, including Santiago, are on display from 5th July until 1st August at the “Design on stage – winners Red Dot Award : product design 2011” exhibition which takes place at the Red Dot design museum in Essen, Germany.  Voor de tweede maal op rij valt de lamp Santiago van lichtfabrikant Tal in de prijzen: na een eerdere bekroning met de iF Product Design Award, werd de Santiago zonet uitgeroepen tot winnaar van een red dot award, een van de meest prestigieuze prijzen binnen het product design. De Santiago behoort tot de collectie Kinetura Lighting, een revolutionaire reeks lampen die transformeerbaar zijn, en daardoor ook een complete verandering van sfeer en lichtkenmerken teweeg brengen. De Kinetura Lighting collectie van Tal, ontworpen door het Kinetura architectenkoppel Xaveer Claerhout en Barbara Van Biervliet, bestaat uit een reeks slimme designlampen die zijn gemaakt uit composietmateriaal. Lichtmodulatie en de vervorming van het verlichtingstoestel gaan hand in hand, waardoor aanpasbaar licht echt natuurlijk wordt. Tal en Kinetura zijn bijzonder trots dat het eerste uitgebrachte model, de Santiago, al meteen in de prijzen valt bij de internationale designjury’s. De inbouwverlichting Santiago kan naadloos in een wand of plafond worden ingebouwd en versmelt met de architectuur. Bij het aanschakelen is in begintoestand enkel een lichtgevende lijn zichtbaar, zodat de lamp als oriëntatieverlichting kan dienen. Op wens van de gebruiker transformeert de lamp zich geleidelijk tot een volwaardige functionele wand- of plafondarmatuur. De lamp buigt haast onmerkbaar naar binnen en het licht streelt de architectuur. Om verwarring in de markt te vermijden, en het onderscheid tussen het Kinetura principe en de afgeleide verlichtingstoepassingen duidelijker te maken, zal de Kinetura-Lighting collectie binnenkort volledig opgaan in de nieuwe GLOWMOTION collectie van TAL. Samen met eerdere bekroningen, zoals de Henry Van De Velde prijs en Good Design Award, laat dit zien dat Tal met succes inzet op innovatieve verlichtingsconcepten. Bij architecten en verlichtingsexperts staat de producent al meer dan 18 jaar bekend als technische koploper en trendsetter in kwaliteitsvolle verlichting. Karel Festjens, directeur van Tal: “Zowel het bewerken van de composietmaterialen, het uitdokteren van het mechanische aandrijfsysteem als de elektronische aansturing vereisten een hele dosis knowhow en creativiteit.” De sterkte van dit vernieuwende verlichtingsconcept ligt in de synergie van deze technologische oplossingen met een zeer sober, poëtisch en natuurlijk resultaat. De winnende producten, inclusief de Santiago, zijn te zien van 5 juli tot 1 augustus 2011 op de tentoonstelling “Design on stage – winners red dot award: product design 2011”, in het red dot designmuseum in Essen (zo’n 2,5 uur rijden van Brussel). Op 4 juli 2011 vindt de officiële uitreiking plaats in het Aalto Theater, de opera van Essen. De collectie Kinetura Lighting is ook te bewonderen op het Euroluce Salone del Mobile, van 12 tot en met 17 april in Milaan. Wie is Tal?

 Pour la deuxième fois consécutive, le produit SANTIAGO de la marque TAL a été récompensé. Après avoir reçu le IF Product Award, SANTIAGO a été nommé vainqueur du Red Dot Award, l’une des récompenses les plus prestigieuses. Santiago fait partie de la collection Kinetura Lighting, une série d’ appareils révolutionnaires qui permet un changement complet d’atmosphère et de perception de la lumière. La collection Kinetura Lighting a été conçue par les architectes Xaveer Claerhout et Barbara Van Biervliet. Elle est constituée d’une série de luminaires design, élégants, combinant à la fois des matériaux et mécanismes permettant une métamorphose complète du produit. KINETURA nous projette dans une dimension de contrastes et une architecture en mouvement. TAL et Kinetura sont très fiers du fait que Santiago, le tout premier appareil de la collection Kinetura Lighting, ait été si bien accueilli par le jury de design international. Ce luminaire encastré peut parfaitement s’intégrer dans un mur ou dans un plafond. Lorsque l’appareil est allumé, seul un halot de lumière est apparent ce qui permet une utilisation décorative ou signalétique. Il permet également un éclairage fonctionnel en se transformant graduellement. Discrètement, l’appareil se repli et laisse apparaître la lumière. Pour éviter toute confusion sur le marché, et pour rendre plus évidente la distinction entre le principe Kinetura et les applications dérivées d’éclairage, la collection d'éclairage Kinetura sera bientôt totalement immergée dans la nouvelle collection GLOWMOTION deTAL.
